Tapestry Tuesday #17 - Trigger and Arc SageArts

Hello all its Ohms again,
Last week, sickness took me out as I was writing out the Tapestry Tuesday post, delaying it until now. Now I’m back, and here to bring you more about SageArt Threads!

As a reminder, SageArts represent the usage of Aspect Power by the playable character, and represented by the blue tint. Today we’re focusing on the Trigger and Art Forms of these abilities.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that we were starting to enter the complex ability territory and these two forms are no exception. Each of these have variable methods of approach that can change their usage in battle and as a whole. As such there is much more to them than meets the eye.

Trigger SageArts are abilities that create a damaging effect across all units that they hit. This can vary from a single, fast moving projectile, to an area, to a pulsing area. The universal trait of all of these abilities is that if enemies get hit at all, the followup attack is near-guaranteed to hit them, generally dealing heavy damage.

Trigger Form abilities are often used to deal a large amount of AoE damage to clustered units, as they can effectively deal double or even triple the damage to enemies if the resulting damage effect is large enough to strike multiple units.

Arc SageArts, while slightly more straightforward than Triggers are nevertheless still above average in complexity. They generate an attack that ‘bounces’ or ‘arcs‘ between units, dealing heavy damage and disruption. This can be tailored by other effects and abilities to focus between specific units, return to a specific point or unit for additional effects, and other varying uses. Arcs are therefore effective less as a highly damaging ability, but for the side effects it can provide such as applying disruptive or status effects, or additional benefits like converting damage into healing or buffs for the player.

That is all for now, but trust me when i say there is more coming! We’re coming to the home stretch when it comes to describing all the abilities, and I cant wait to share what I’ve created with you all!
