Tapestry Tuesday #19 - Simulte and Reactive Threads

Hello all, its Ohms again!

We’re coming in on the final days of the SageArt section of the Tapestry Tuesdays, and as we approach the conclusion things continue to get interesting!

Today’s Thread Forms, Simulte and Reactive, are very similar in function but with wildly different implementations when used practically in-game.

Simulte and Reactive Threads are unique in that they provide supplementary damage to the other actions that the player takes. By their implementation, players can give themselves that little nudge that can turn the tide in their favor in a tough fight, or implement a greater beat-down when combat is in their favor.

Simulte Thread skills create a notable power-based item that follows the player around. While it is present, it generates additional damage when triggered by player actions or as reactions, such as when the player damages enemies (as above) or guards against attacks, or other conditions. With this in mind, players can use this tool to augment their capabilities when the going gets rough, allowing them to gain additional threat under the specific circumstances laid out by the ability.

Reactive SageArts, by contrast, creates a zone which reacts to actions done within it. This can be adjusted as a deterrent (such as reacting to enemies who enter or leave the field) as an area of supplemental damage (As shown above) or as a defensive zone which reacts for you (such as attacking in retaliation for being hit). The possibilities are many, and Reactive abilities, in combination with others, can allow for a great deal of flexibility on the battlefield.

This concludes the Tapestry Tuesday for today! We’re almost through the long list of potential abilities, but trust me when I say the final set are still interesting in what they bring to the table. I look forward to sharing more of that with you all!
