Tapestry Tuesday #13 - Blast and Trap SageArts

Hello all, its Ohms once again this Tapestry Tuesday!

As we continue down the lengthy list of Forms for SageArt abilities this week, we’ll cover Blast and Trap abilities, simple forms that have a lot of potential!

As variations of abilities representing character powers and abilities, Blast and Trap abilities require a more nuanced touch as they both cover much different usage cases.

Blast abilities, like the one shown above are attacks that originate from the unit and affect enemies within a short range from them, either in a set direction, or in all directions. Because of their close ranged nature, abilities of this type tend to be pretty damaging and/or disruptive in terms of how they affect opposing units. As such, they tend to be telegraphed heavily.

In contrast to Blast abilities, Trap abilities are more remote, creating an object that arms after a short delay. When enemies are nearby, the armed trap springs, releasing the powerful, damaging effect contained within.

Traps are also potent abilities, as their damaging and disruptive nature combined with their delayed arming time allow them to combo well with other abilities.
