Tapestry Tuesday #14 - Burst and Zone SageArts

Hello all, its Ohms once more, bringing you another Tapestry Tuesday update!

Similar to last week’s post, this week we have fairly simple SageArt types to demonstrate today, as today is the last of the more ‘simple’ SageArt Forms.

The SageArt Symbols for today

As shown above, the SageArts we’re discussing today are the Burst and Zone forms, and each demonstrates how subtle distinctions can make a world of difference in terms of their application!

Firstly, let us start with the Burst Form.

Burst Form abilities, as demonstrated here, are straightforward, dealing damage in a general area as either a one time occurrence, or, as above, with a followup set of damage instances. They are designed also, to be disruptive, a quick way to both deal damage and interrupt opposing units in an area.

The most important distinction for Burst Form abilities, however, is that they can occur anywhere around the player, making optimal positioning important for their activation and usage.

The second Form we’re looking at today is the Zone Form type of SageArt.

Zone Form abilities affect a specific area, with the damaging effects they created corresponding strongly to the animations themselves. In the above example.. the falling star itself is a smaller damaging effect than the resulting explosions, but it still damages at set intervals, resulting in a potential wall of damage that can interrupt enemy units trying to approach. Such is one of the key elements of Zone abilities.

The second most key ability, and its major distinction from Burst attacks, is the fact that Zone abilities are ‘Grounded‘ by default, meaning that they will always be generated on the ground regardless of where the unit in question is, making them useful when getting the drop on opponents (both literally and figuratively)!

That is unfortunately all for today’s post, but i look forward to sharing more of them with you all! Things are accelerating rapidly, and from now on the ability examples will be more complex (and cooler!). I look forward to sharing more with you all!
